What is the St. Pius 1:1 iPad program?
The iPad is a tablet computing device that is widely used as a platform for educational applications and digital textbooks, offering interactive, web-based resources through a dynamic interface, allowing students and faculty to expand the learning environment. All St. Pius X Regional School students in grade 8 will be required to use an iPad in the classroom at the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year to use as a learning tool, to collaborate with students and teachers, to facilitate research, and to receive and submit homework assignments.
After reviewing numerous devices, it was determined that we would use the Apple iPad 4. Families will not be charged an additional fee for the device. The school owns the iPads and loans them to each student. Teachers have taken many classes and professional development courses specifically focused on the iPad.
